 FOSTER INFORMATION

We could not save as many animals as we do without the amazing assistance of our foster families.  We do not have a shelter facility and all of our animals are cared for in home settings.  When you foster an animal, you bring it into your life and your home and you treat it as if it was your own.  Our foster families are often the difference between life and death for an animal.  Many animals rescued from the shelter do not have an adoptive home to go to right away or they need some extra special TLC to ready them for adoption.  Our foster volunteers show us every day how One Person Can Make A Difference.

When you volunteer to foster an animal, our rescue provides all funds for any emergency or necessary medical expenses.  You will not pay for any medical expense.  You will provide the food, the love and the care to your foster animal. It is an incredibly rewarding experience as you watch this animal who just came from death row at the shelter begin to thrive under your care.  It is not uncommon for a foster family to fall so deeply in love with their foster animal that they become adoptive parents and provide a permanent home.

We strongly encourage the use of a crate during times that your foster animal may be unattended.  We cannot be responsible for any damage caused by an animal left uncrated and/or unsupervised.  If you do not have a crate, one can be provided to you for use during your time as a foster parent.

If for some reason, a foster animal placed in your home was not the right fit for your family, we would remove the animal right away, and hope that you were willing to foster a different animal who might be a better fit.

We do require anyone who has current animals in the home to be sure that they have received, and are current on all vaccines, and we encourage you to have your dogs receive their bordatella vaccination. This is not always given with your dog's annual shots.  Bordatella, commonly known as kennel cough has an incubation period of 2-14 days.  While usually no more serious than a common cold would be in a human, unvaccinated dogs or very young puppies are more likely to experience complications.

If you are interested in fostering, please complete our short application form  fosterapplication.pdf   or Apply Online  Once you have completed the form, you can find postal and e-mail addresses, as well as fax information on our Contact Us page, so that you can return the completed application to us.  A rescue volunteer will review your application and contact you as soon as possible to discuss the process.  Completing the application does not obligate you to foster an animal, but the need always arises for new foster homes and we hope to hear from you.
